In order to determine the level of editing that would best benefit you, I offer a free five-page critique. This will also help you decide whether my work would be a good fit for your project. Since I base my fees on the depth of editing required, this allows me to set my price before we start so there are no surprises for you. All fees are payable in advance through PayPal or money order.

*Proofreading: Grammar, punctuation, formatting and typographical errors

*Copyediting: All aspects of proofreading plus word choice, sentence structure, clarity and flow, style, and checking for redundancies and clichés

*Substantive editing: All aspects of copyediting plus checking point of view, scene structure, story arc and character arc, depth of character, transitions, and satisfying story resolution

*Substantive edit of the first fifty pages and a content critique of the synopsis. I will identify your novel’s strengths and weaknesses and give detailed instructions on how to improve both. The Diagnostic Analysis is an affordable alternative to a whole-book critique, especially for first-time novelists, those entering writing contests, and writers who have received rejections and are unsure what they need to improve.

I will respond within two working days and will invite you to send your first five sample pages. After finishing your sample edit, I would be able to give you an accurate quote and timeline for completion. When you have made your decision, you may either send a hard copy or e-mail your manuscript as a MS Word e-mail attachment. I use "Track Changes" for my electronic submissions. If you are not familiar with this function, please let me know and I will send you an easy-to-follow instruction sheet. For all submissions, please use Times New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced with one-inch margins. For hard copies, please use 8 ½ by 11-inch paper, one-sided.
